Casing & Tubing
Sharpe® is an industry leader in the threading of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) casing and tubing for clients across the resource and energy sector. Sharpe® has developed a range of threaded connections to suit Australia’s sub surface conditions and our casing is used across a range of applications including coal mine degasification, gas production, and water monitoring and production bores.
Both API and proprietary casing connections are fully gauged, manganese phosphate coated connections (as required) and have plastic/steel thread protectors installed prior to dispatch to the customer.
Our range of casing & tubing includes:
Proven and trusted, Sharpe are the OEM of SFJ® premium threaded connections. An internally and externally flush connection, this thread has no welded joints and features a shallow taper designed for thin-wall pipe, ideal for vertical, horizontal and deviated wells.
Destructive tensile testing has proven the safe design and high-quality wear properties, ensuring compliance with the CSG Code of Practice for Constructing and Abandoning Coal Seam Gas Wells and Associated Bores in Queensland (Edition 2.0).
Designed for the harsh environments of Underground Coal Mining, Coal Seam Gas (CSG), and Coal Bed Methane (CBM) industries, its applications include:
- De-gassing
- Goaf Drainage
- Wellbore Liners (CSG Application)
- SIS (Surface In-Seam)
- Tail Pipe and Wash Pipe
SFJ® is frequently used for salvaging/reclaimation of API EUE tubing where there is insufficient upset length for repair or re-cut to existing thread.
Available sizes:
- 2-7/8” to 10 3/4”
Key features of SFJ®:
- Manufactured using API J55, K55 or 5LB X42 material
- 5 Threads per Inch (TPI)
- Higbee [blunt] start thread for easier initial makeup
- Third-party verified tensile capacity
- SFJ® comes pre-doped with thread protectors and racked for ease of transport
- Available with anti-gall treatment on Box Connections to retain thread compound and ensure proper lubrication of the mating surface during makeup.
SFJ® is supported by a range of Drilling Accessories and Cementing Equipment. Visit our Casing Accessories page to find out more.

Sharpe® SFJ® Run Procedure
SCF® is designed as a coarse flush thread for large diameter casing, perfect for surface, intermediate, production, GOAF wells, Paste lines and liners in Australia’s harsh environment.
Integrally threaded at each end of the pipe with a fully flush internal and external metal-to-metal seal, SCF® offers a easy makeup, streamlined connection, minimising risks associated with welded on tool joints. Its easy stabbing and fast make-up save valuable time, increasing efficiency at the rig site.
SCF® is fully engineered and third-party verified for tensile capacity, collapse, bending, and curvature. It has been pressure and torque tested to ensure thread integrity and optimal make-up torques.
Available Sizes:
- 5-9/16″ to 26″
Key Features of SCF® Casing:
- Easy deep stabbing
- Reduced risk of cross-threading
- Quick make-up with 4.5 turns to shoulder
- Anti-gall treated connections enhances ability to be run multiple times
- Pre-doped and ready to run at rig location

Sharpe® SCF® Run Procedure
Complementing our local manufacturing and threading capability, Sharpe® have developed strategic alliances with proven overseas mills for the supply of casing and tubing strings.
Assisting our customers in the specification and sourcing of tubing sizing from 1.66in to 4.5in OD and casing tubulars from 4.5in to 32in OD, Sharpe® can source API Spec 5-CT threaded tubulars in full range of material grades and poundage.
We provide a complete service throughout the tubular sourcing cycle including engineering support, approval of mill certs, product drawings, COC’s and freight forwarding direct to the customers site.
We support industry leading proprietary threaded tubulars including Vam® and JFE® that can be supplied to assist well engineers’ in achieving high torque, increased collapse rating and increased corrosion-resistance.
We also assist customers in the sourcing project specific sucker rod strings and fibreglass (GRE) casing upon demand.
The Sharpe® Latch Connector is engineered to make large-diameter casing deployment safer, faster, and more cost-effective.
Eliminating the need for onsite welding, our large diameter connector systems reduce downtime, removes hot works permits and costly NDT, enhancing the operational safety of your drilling operation.
Designed in large diameters where threaded casing becomes less suited or difficult to run, the Sharpe® Latch Connector joins simply and quickly, in less than 5 minutes, without specialised tools, delivering a reliable high-pressure seal every time.
- No welding over live wells, reducing operational risk.
- Reusable design makes for easy assembly, disassembly and multiple deployments.
- Uses basic hand tools for quick and easy assembly and disassembly on site.
- Fast assembly in under five minutes
- Torque shoulder allows for the application of high torques without failure.
- No rotation required, can be run with a crane.
They are deployed in wells as casing conductor strings, surface casing or liners, enabling accurate placement. Cross threading risk is eliminated, achieved by large section O-rings retained in a dovetail seal groove which prevents seals rolling out of grooves during assembly. An added advantage is the ability to be retrieved from the wellbore and re-run multiple times.
Matched with Sharpe® manufactured casing accessories and Float equipment, our large diameter casing systems are available in a range of sizes:
- 25″
- 26″
- 32″
- 42″
- 48″
