WHAT DOES A DAY LOOK LIKE AT SHARPE®?

Put your skills to the test on the latest machining technologies

Cutting edge tech and high turnaround of in-demand products for our clients guarantees a fast-paced, action packed day.

Joining our apprenticeship program will give you practical experience working on some of the latest CNC lathes, milling machines and tools, honing your skills under the guidance of our experienced team and trainers. You’ll learn how to operate or program various machines and perform precise machining services which are fundamental to our manufacturing licenses and quality management processes.

Skills in mechanical turning and fitting are highly sought after across the manufacturing, energy, mining and defence industries, so by doing a trade in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining), you’re positioning yourself as a valuable asset to potential employers, future-proofing your career and commanding a great salary when you complete your apprenticeship.

Over the years the majority of our apprentices have stayed with Sharpe® to become long-term employees with many progressing their career into different roles within our company from Engineering Design, Research and Development, to Client Account Management and Business Development.

FAQ's

After 4 years of learning and on the job experience, you will come away with a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining).

4 years full-time, with TAFE blocks scheduled throughout the year.

Anyone can join Sharpe®! If you enjoy working with your hands, seeing your skills produce physical items, and being part of the process of creating something, a career in mechanical fitting and turning might be for you!

Sharpe® offer a full-time wage to apprentices at above award rates. You will receive Superannuation, paid leave entitlements, plus you will be paid while you are at TAFE. You also get uniforms!

Yes. Doing an apprenticeship means completing 4 weeks of study per year which Sharpe® continue to pay your weekly wage to attend. TAFE blocks are completed offsite in either Roma or Brisbane.

No. Fees are not paid by the employee.

There are many opportunities open to our apprentices once they complete their certificate. Many apprentices have stayed with Sharpe® going on to become long term employees.
