Machinist
Do you have technical knowledge or experience with setting, programming and operating CNC machines, ensuring production efficiency? Do you have a meticulous eye for quality control, ensuring precision in manufactured components? You might just be the 'Sharpe Fit' we're looking for!
Working shifts from our Zillmere facility, you will be responsible for setting up and operating hand tools, machines or equipment to cut, shape and form metal stock and casting to exact sizes in accordance with drawings, CAD systems and specifications in order to ensure the accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies.
This includes machining metal components from single to complex form and studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
We’re one of the few manufacturers in Australia certified both to ISO 9001 and API Spec Q1, so your role will ensure compliance of our products and processes according to our strict quality control measures.

Other responsibilities will include, but not be limited, to the following:
- Examine detailed drawings or specifications to find out job, material and equipment requirements.
- Select, clean and prepare stock material.
- Set up and adjust metalworking machines and equipment
- Operate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring milling, shaping, slotting, grinding or drilling metal stock components.
- Fit and assemble metal parts, tools or sub-assemblies, including welding or brazing parts.
- Dismantle faulty tools and assemblies and repair or replace defective parts.
- Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools, welding equipment or computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines.
- Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies.
- Understand and apply quality control techniques.
- Work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment.
- Operate all lifting equipment incidental to normal work when holding the appropriate licences.
What we’ll be looking for in you
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
- Technical knowledge or experience with setting, programming and operating CNC machines, ensuring production efficiency.
- Attention to detail & ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to read engineering drawings & follow work instructions.
- Computer literacy and exposure to quality systems.
- Ability to work toward goals & targets with low supervision.
- Positive can-do attitude and reliable employment history.
