A Saver Sub is a short, sacrificial sub used between the top drive quill and the drill string to prevent excessive wear on the top drive connection. A Saver Sub will help extend the life of the drill stem components by taking the connection wear during make-up and break-out operations. Sharpe® manufacture Saver Subs to a clients requirements, including specific connection joints and desired diameters providing a solution that is economic to repair or replace.
For enhanced life of Saver subs Sharpe® can manufacture these products out of 4145H MOD 130ksi material upon request.
During drilling, debris and solid-laden fluids can collect on surfaces and in crevices of drilling equipment, potentially obstructing operations or causing damage to crucial sealing areas. Jetting Subs from Sharpe® are engineered to efficiently clear drill cuttings, mudcake, and other debris from key drilling components like the riser, blowout preventer (BOP), and wellhead.
Each Jetting Sub features standard drill pipe box-up/pin-down connections and threaded side ports to accommodate bit nozzles. This design ensures effective debris removal, maintaining smooth operation and reducing downtime during drilling processes.
Our Circulating Sub is designed for effective drilling fluid circulation during casing runs. When attached to the top of the casing string, it connects with the mud flow line to facilitate the flow of drilling mud and helps establish higher circulation rates by opening a path to the annulus in the top section of the tool string. Enhanced circulation ensures better cuttings transport and hole cleaning before retrieving the string.
Sharpe® can manufacture circulating subs with either casing or union threads.
A Bullnose Sub has a blunt rounded end and is used to run in and condition the hole prior to running casing or logging runs. Bullnose Subs are also used on the bottom connection of a hole opener and are an effective way to guide the hole opener through the pilot hole.
Sharpe® offer a reliable and functional product, manufacturing bullnose subs in a range of thread configurations and can also accomodate a bit nozzle if required.
Sharpe® proudly manufactures robust and reliable Casing/Tubing Drive Subs, essential for running casing and tubing strings with a top drive system.
A Casing Drive Sub is essential for efficiently transferring torque from the rotary top drive to the top of the casing string in drilling operations. By facilitating the connection between the top drive system and the casing or tubing strings, our Drive Subs enhance operational efficiency and safety at the rig site, while their superior durability—crafted from high-quality materials that exceed API specifications—ensures reliable performance in Australia’s demanding drilling conditions.
Float Subs prevent drilling mud and cuttings flowing back up the drill string. Sharpe® Float Subs are a solution to eliminating backflow and ensuring smooth drilling operations with the main body machined to accomodate a one-way float valve on the inside diameter of the sub.
Engineered with precision to API Standard, our range of Float Subs and Float Valves provide a reliable seal, maintaining pressure and optimising safety of drilling operations for clients across Australia.
A Drill Pipe Pup Joint is a custom length drill pipe joint. The Pup Joint enables the driller to land at a specific depth whilst staying within the Kelly Valve’s working area. Pup Joints can also be used to add length to downhole tools. Our Pup Joints are manufactured to the same specifications and API standards as full-length drill pipes, enabling them to withstand the same pressure, torque, and mechanical stress during drilling operations, providing our clients with the flexibility and precision they need from the drill string.
Lift Nubbins are essential for the safe handling of drilling tools and tubular products on the rig floor. They facilitate easy handling or removal of drilling tools, drill collars or drill pipe, and are load rated and tested to meet the rigorous demands of the oil and gas industry and Australian standards. Sharpe® Lift Nubbins provide superior thread protection minimising the need for costly tool replacements due to thread damage.
Sharpe® manufacture Lift Nubbins to suit your tool joint, to precise specification, using integrally machined forged steel body design with heavy-duty lugs. We ensure compliance with API Spec 7-1 and each unit is certified and load tested according to Australian Lifting Standard (AS4991).
